Supported image and video specifications

A file that looks fine on your phone can still fail a platform validation. Check the destination platform before scheduling, because each network controls its own accepted formats and limits.

Before you upload

Use a common web format, keep the file within the destination platform’s current size and duration limits, and preview the crop for the placement you selected.

  • Images: export as JPEG or PNG in the intended aspect ratio.
  • Video: use MP4 with broadly supported H.264 video and AAC audio when possible.
  • Avoid corrupted files, variable metadata and unsupported codecs.
  • Leave enough time for large videos to finish processing before the scheduled publish time.

Platform rules win

Instagram, LinkedIn and X can change media requirements. VKIT validates what it can before publishing, but the destination platform makes the final acceptance decision. If a file fails, re-export it using the platform’s official current specifications and try again.
